Photo Story: Chicago Firefighters Called to Apartment Fire

A Sept. 22 apartment fire on South Emerald was knocked down by Chicago firefighters shortly after they arrived.

At 12:53 p.m. on Sept. 22, the Englewood Fire Alarm Office dispatched a still alarm to 7814 South Emerald. The assignment consisted of Battalion 18, Trucks 20 and 50 and Engines 122 and 73.

Based on additional calls reporting a fire, the alarm was upgraded to working fire, adding Truck 30, Ambulances 14 and 58, EMS 456, Battalion 21, Squad 5 and Command Van 274.

Truck 20 and Battalion 18 reported smoke showing as the responded.

Engine 73 found flames showing from a first floor apartment and quickly knocked down the fire.
