Photo Story: Mich. Firefighters Battle Vacant Dwelling Fire

Nov. 2, 2013
Five Flint fire companies responded to a fire involving a vacant dwelling.

Flint firefighters used a defensive attack to contain a vacant structure fire on Oct. 30.

At 9:50 p.m. crews were dispatched when multiple calls came in for a structure fire near Avenue A and Dayton Street.

Truck 35 found a vacant two-story wood-frame dwelling fully involved. They reported a defensive attack with the need to protect the B exposure, which was a vacant party story.

The rig was set up to provide a water curtain to protect the exposure.

Firefighters deployed an attack line from Engine 51 to knock down hot spots in a nearby field.

Units on scene: Engine 51, Engine 61 Truck 35, Squad 2 and Battalion Chief
