Photo Story: Mo. Crews Rescue Horses from Frozen Pond

Firefighters from Warrenton used a chainsaw to create a path in the ice for the two horses to walk out.

Firefighters donned cold water rescue gear to rescue two horses from a frozen pond in Warrenton on Dec. 19.

At 11:34 a.m. crews from the Warrenton Fire Protection District responded to a report of two horses that fell through a frozen pond.

Units arrived to find the two horses in the middle of the pond.

Crews donned cold water rescue suits and used a chainsaw to cut a path in the the ice so that the horses were able to walk to land.

When the horses exited the water they appeared to be in good health.

Warrenton Fire Protection District units on scene included: 1400, 1414, 1419, 1499, 1426, 9714, 9701.
