Photo Story: Tankers Shuttle Water to Conn. Fire

Jan. 22, 2014

The Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Dec. 30.

The outbuilding was fully engulfed at the time of arrival and was set back several hundred feet from the road.

No hydrants were available so tanker trucks from the surrounding towns were called in to pump water from a nearby lake and fill Fol-Da-Tanks which supplied water to Ladder 106 and the other engines necessary to extinguish the fire.

The outbuilding had been refurbished into living quarters and investigations are still under way to determine the cause of the fire.

Fire departments from Bozrah, Colchester, Salem, Marlborough, Franklin and Lyme assisted in supplying water and fighting the fire.
