Photo Story: Blaze Consumed Historic Ohio Inn

Jan. 22, 2014

A fire that swept through an historic downtown inn occurred on Jan. 6, which was the coldest night in decades.

The Emmitt House was located in downtown Waverly.  It was built in 1861 as a market and inn.

It was just recently a restaurant with a bakery and small clothing shop and one of the oldest buildings in Pike County.

They had been many reports of paranormal activity taking place within the building in recent years.  Residents of Waverly and travelers still enjoyed stopping by to enjoy a good meal in a building teaming with history.

Temperatures dropped to well below zero making fighting the fire a real challenge.  Firefighters battledFri the fire will into the fridge night.
