At 3 a.m. on Jan. 30, Baltimore County firefighters were dispatched to a reported apartment fire (Box 18-13) in the St. Charles at Olde Court apartment complex in Pikesville.

Engine 3 (Woodlawn career station) and Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company Tower 323 arrived simultaneously, and Engine 3's officer reported heavy fire showing from a three-story garden apartment complex. Flames had already broken through the roof.  Some residents were self-evacuating and firefighters made multiple rescues from apartment balconies.

With temperatures under 10 degrees, firefighters battled the fire for more than two hours before it was brought under control.

Three civilians were transported to area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries.
