Portland firefighters spent almost three hours battling a commercial building fire on Feb. 9.
Fire alarm struck the initial alarm at 9:37 and responding crews could see a heavy column of smoke from more than a mile away.
A second alarm was called less than 10 minutes after Engine 13 arrived. A short time thereafter a third alarm was dispatched to bring additional resources to the scene.
Entry to the building was accomplished by cutting through large industrial roll up doors.
Firefighters were forced from inside the structure by explosions coming from the heavy black smoke.
The owner of the business, an automotive shop, informed Incident commanders that nobody was inside the structure.
Nearby residents were temporarily evacuated as the noxious smoke descended on their homes.
