On March 8, a crew from Butler Ambulance advised a working fire with fire showing from the Bravo side of the structure.

A house fire with entrapment was reported in Butler just after midnight on March 8 and fire crews from the City of Butler and the Butler Veterans Affairs Station were dispatched.

A crew from Butler Ambulance advised a working fire with fire showing from the Bravo side of the structure. Firefighters arrived with in minutes and requested a second alarm, bringing all off-duty City of Butler firefighters.

Neighbors reported that a male went back into the house to find his pets.

Firefighters attempted an aggressive interior attack and search efforts, but due to the fire's progression, all units were pulled from the structure.

As they transitioned to a defensive mode, Butler City Truck 1 was positioned on the Charlie side and deployed a master stream. Multiple handlines and a deck gun off from Butler City Engine 1-2 were deployed on the Alpha/Bravo sides of the structure.

After 30 minutes, firefighters went back inside to search for the victim. The 22-year-old victim was located and had perished. 

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and Butler County Coroner were called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
