Four people were injured as a four-alarm fire swept through a Glens Falls apartment building.

Four people were injured as a four-alarm fire ripped through a Glens Falls building on May 8.

The Glens Falls Fire Department was dispatched to 5 Sherman Avenue and police arrived at the scene and reported flames showing with entrapment. Fire command requested a third alarm, which recalled two off-duty platoons. 

Upon arrival crews entered the structure to rescue trapped occupants and saved two people. Heavy fire involved the rear and created heavy smoke thoughout the structure.

Command requested a fourth alarm recalling all off-duty firefighters.  Mutual aid responded from South Glens Falls, Queensbury Central, West Glens Falls, Bay-Ridge, and South QueensburyThe Kingsbury Fire Department relocated to the Ridge Street Fire Station and South Glens Falls relocated to the Broad Street Fire Station

Four people were injured and 25 were displaced by the fire.

Multiple EMS agencies from Fort Edward, West Glens Falls, Bay-Ridge and Empire Ambulance were on the scene.  

Cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
