Photo Story: Colorado Barn Consumed by Flames

Tankers were utilized to shuttle water to the scene of a barn fire in Castle Rock.

Crews from three departments battled barn fire in Castle Rock on May 23.

The initial call was received at 2:48 a.m. for a barn fire in the Castle Oaks area of Castle Rock. Firefighters from Castle Rock Fire and Rescue were dispatched along with Franktown and South Metro responded.

Upon arrival, units found a large barn fully involved and began defensive operations.

This area does not have hydrants and three tenders were utilized to shuttle water from the nearest hydrant about one mile away.  

The fire was declared under control 45 minutes later.
