Photo Story: Detroit Crews Stumble Upon Building Fire

Engine 42 was returning from a vacant commercial building fire on Aug. 3 when they found heavy fire showing from a four-story building.

They requested a box alarm for fire in a vacant four-story apartment building. An additional engine was ordered for rapid intervention.

Ladder 17 set up their aerial on the D side and began knocking down the bulk of the fire.

Eventually the building collapsed and the exposure on the B side suffered some damage.

Units on scene: Engines 40, 42, Ladder 17, Squad 5, Battalion 2
