Photo Story: Fire Hits Apartments in New Brunswick

Crews from Saint John battled fire on the second and third floors of an apartment building.

At 1:45 p.m. on Aug. 30, Saint John (New Brunswick, Canada) fire crews were dispatched to a fire at an apartment complex at 335 Coldbrook Crescent in East Saint John.

First in crews on Engine 2 and Truck 2 encountered heavy fire and smoke conditions.

Platoon Chief Eric Garland said “first-arriving crews heading into an apartment on the second floor encountered heavy fire that had already spread to the third floor and was making its way to the roofline."

The building sustained major damage, in particular to the second and third floor and roof.

A total of 12 people were displaced from their homes. The Canadian Red Cross was called into assist the residents in finding shelter.

No injuries were reported and at this time no cause has been determined as the investigation continues.
