Crews from four fire companies responded to a Nov. 2 house fire in Palmer Township that left several pets dead.

Around 11 p.m., a dwelling fire was reported to the Northampton County 911 at 3200  Freemansburg Ave.

First arriving units found heavy fire from the front and sides of a Cape Cod-style residence.

Palmer firefighters were assisted by Hanover Township (Station 15), Nancy Run (Station 14) and the City of Easton (Station 20).

The cause is believed to be a short in the home's electrical service which ignited leaves and brush next to the wooden front porch.

High winds quickly spread the fire to the porch and then through the home.

Two firefighters were evaluated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.

The SPCA was called in to take of the pets that were rescued.
