Photo Story: Indy Police Officer Saves Man

The An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officer spotted the fire while on patrol and helped rescue the man from the burning home.

An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer rescued a man from an Indianapolis home early New Year's morning.

Police Officer Gary Hadden was on patrol when he spotted flames coming from a house at 2:20 a.m. He called for firefighters then heard a man screaming for help from inside the home.

Hadden crawled inside the front door and the man yelled he could see his flashlight. Officer Hadden had the man crawl toward his light and while two other IMPD officers helped assisted the victim and Hadden out.

The man was seriously injured and Officer Hadden was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Units from Wayne Township, Speedway & the Indianapolis fire department's made a quick knockdown on the fire and treated both men.
