Fort Worth Engine 14 and Ladder 14 found heavy fire coming from the facility and firefighters set up for a defensive attack.

An early morning fire on Jan. 10 ripped through a Fort Worth lumber yard.

Crews were dispatched to the 2500 block of Lancaster Avenue East around 5:30 a.m. for a report of fire and explosions.

Engine 14 and Ladder 14 found heavy fire coming from the facility and firefighters set up for a defensive attack.

The intense fire caused officials to stop train traffic on an adjacent rail line and close a major roadway as hoselines were laid.

Crews used two aerial master streams and several hoselines to darken the flames in about two hours.

Units remained on scene for several hours to contain hot spots.

Fort Worth fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
