Saint John firefighters were dispatched to Port City Pawn Shop just hours after 15 inches of snow fell on the city.

Just hours after the city of Saint John in New Brunswick received over 15 inches of snow fall, firefighters battled a stubborn blaze at a pawn show.

Saint John firefighters were dispatched to Port City Pawn Shop on Prince Edward Street around 2 a.m. on Feb. 1. Crews encountered heavy fire on arrival.

As firefighters worked to access the fire they were slowed by high winds and extreme temperatures.

Command pulled firefighters from the buildings as flames engulfed all three floors of the building. Additional alarms were sounded.

Firefighters struggled to find and shovel out hydrants that were buried under four-foot snow drifts.

Fire, police and EMS crews helped evacuate an adjacent 10-story apartment building as other firefighters trained their hoslines to protect nearby structures.

No injuries were reported.
