The greater alarm fire spread from the pallet yard to a commercial building.

A March 20 fire that started in a large pallet yard spread to a commercial building in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Task Force and Squad 21, Engine 14 and Battalion 13 found heavy fire conditions in the yard at East 48th Place and Long Beach Boulevard. Flames were shooting 50 feet into the air.

Firefighters quickly laid hoselines from several directions and set up master streams, including wagon batteries and ladder pipes.

The fire spread to a one-story commercial building to the west before firefighters were able to knock it in about an hour.

The cause of the greater alarm blaze is under investigation.
