Several brush rigs were deployed into the field to stop the fire from spreading to nearby homes.

A dozen Fort Worth fire companies responded to a large grass fire that threatened a development on July 4.

Crews were called to the area of Columbus Trail and West Cleburne Road around 1 p.m. and found a smoke coming from the undeveloped area filled with trees.

A full brush assignment brought several additional companies to the scene.

Engine 36 and Quint 26 established water supplies as firefighters and brush rigs attacked the fire.

The fire was under control in less than an hour and the homes were unaffected.
