Fort Worth firefighters tackled the three-alarm fire at the paper and plastic recycling facility.

Fort Worth crews battled a stubborn three-alarm blaze at a recycling plant Monday.

Firefighters were called to the Evergreen Recycling Plant on East Everman Parkway around 6 p.m.

Engine 28 found a found in a large pile of paper and plastic that were awaiting recycling. As crews stretched attack lines and established a water supply, the fire quickly spread through the materials and a second alarm was called.

The fire spread to the building, but crews were able to quickly knock it down.

A third alarm was sounded when flames threatened to jump the adjacent railroad tracks, but crews were able to get additional handlines into place to stop the fire from spreading.

Additional relief crews were called to the scene overnight and the last companies left the scene 16 hours after they were dispatched.
