Photos: Narrow Road Challenges N.Y. Firefighters

Warwick firefighters used a deck gun in an attempt to knock down the fire.

The Warwick Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire on Jan. 21.

The first arriving units found the log-style home fully involved and the residents had evacuated after trying to extinguish the fire themselves before calling 911. The narrow private road made it difficult for fire apparatus to gain access to the home and there are no hydrants.

The first arriving engine used its full tank of water through a deck gun to knock down a large amount of the fire.

Without a continued water source, which eventually came from a local pond, the fire roared back to its full state and destroyed the structure.
