Photos: Detroit Squad Spots Church Fire Leaving Another Fire

Squad 3 was leaving a dwelling fire when they spotted a burning church a few blocks away.

Detroit firefighters had just contained a dwelling fire on June 2 when another blaze was discovered by a fire company a block away.

Firefighters found a two-story dwelling fully involved at Elliott and Pulford and placed that fire under control.

Squad 3 spotted another fire at Pulford and Meldrum and encountered a working fire in a two-story church.

Crews mounted an interior attack, but were pulled out as conditions deteriorated. They worked to protect adjacent homes as the fire engulfed the church.

A second alarm was called and crews used master streams to contain the fire.
