GLENDALE, CA. On Thursday, December 16, 2010 Fire Chief Harold Scoggins and Captain Craig Skidmore from the Glendale Fire Department will accept a $5,000 donation from Eddie Martinez, representing State Farm Insurance Company. State Farm Insurance “Good Neighbor” donation program has donated over $2.5 million to community organizations in California in 2010. This is because every day, every hour, firefighters stand prepared to face emergencies. But because of diminishing budgets, fire departments may lack the needed resources. That’s when State Farm Insurance steps in. From firefighting equipment to life saving training, this “Good Neighbor” program awards grants to fire departments across the country so that firefighters have the resources they need to do the job safely and effectively.

This donation will support hazardous materials and urban search & rescue team training for 11 fire departments by providing essential materials and props related to mitigation and response to mass casualty and terrorism incidents in the Los Angeles operational areas.
