Ocala, FL (November 19, 2010) – When the Pink Heals Tour rolled through Ocala last month, the bright pink fire trucks, the drivers and their cause made an impact on the community and businesses in the area. Two of those businesses, Hall-Mark Fire Apparatus and E-ONE, have teamed up to make an impact on the Pink Heals Tour by adding a new member to their growing fleet of pink fire trucks.

“We had a trade-in E-ONE HUSH pumper at our dealership, the truck was in good condition and we decided rather than offer for resale we would like to donate it,” said Bill Alm, vice president of Hall-Mark Fire Apparatus. “When the Pink Heals Tour visited and we found out the drivers prefer the E-ONE HUSH design since the quiet cabs make it easier to drive around with cancer patients, we knew where the truck had to go - it was just a matter of getting it painted pink.”

And for that, Hall-Mark called E-ONE to enlist the company’s help in giving back to an organization working tirelessly to bring awareness to woman battling cancer.

“When the trucks pulled onto our property last month, they made an impact on all of our employees, but then as we began talking with these firefighters who used their well-earned vacation time to ride on the Pink Heals Tour, it became apparent what a truly selfless group this was,” said Peter Guile, president and CEO of E-ONE. “So, of course, when Bill came to us we jumped at the chance to help his team in their efforts.”

The truck is being painted pink to match the rest of the Pink Heals fleet and slight body modifications are being made to allow for extra storage. Van-Mor, an Ocala-based builder of custom multi-purpose vehicle interiors, is donating their time and material to upgrade the cab interior. Akron and Class ONE are also pitching in to update various items on the truck including lights, adapters, and gauges.

“Presenting this truck to the Pink Heals Tour will have been a group effort and one everyone jumped on board to help without hesitation,” Alm said. “We hope this truck serves the tour, the men and women who drive it, and the cancer patients who will sign and ride on it for years to come.”

The truck will be presented to the Pink Heals Tour during the Fire-Rescue East Conference in Daytona Beach, Fla., on January 21st. If you’re attending the show, please stop by to see the truck and meet members of the Pink Heals Tour.

The Pink Heals Tour travels across the country with a team of volunteers to support and bring awareness to women battling cancer. They visit business, schools, elected officials and, most importantly, cancer patients and encourage anyone who has been affected by cancer to sign or write a message on the bright pink trucks.
