Minneapolis, Minn. (October 12, 2010) – EarthClean Corporation, a Minnesota-based start-up company, announced that its TetraKO™ next generation Class A firefighting gel was used by the Spring Lake Park, Blaine and Mounds View (SBM) Fire Department to quickly knockdown and suppress a home residence fire. This is the first fire department use of TetraKO on a live fire.
“On September 28 we used TetraKO on a room and contents fire. The window of the bedroom had vented, and before we made entry to the house we quickly sprayed into the window with TetraKO,” said Lieutenant Dave Anderson of the SBM Fire Department. “We then entered the house and into the bedroom – and the fire was almost completely out. There was still a lot of heat, smoke and steam, but the fire was controlled with just a quick burst through the window.”

Unlike first generation gels that contain super absorbent polymers (SAPs) or traditional Class A foam, TetraKO is a biodegradable, patented Class A water additive that transforms ordinary water into an adhering liquid that can be easily pumped as a thick gel through standard fire equipment. The product has proven to be far superior because its proprietary dual thickening agent allows it to adhere and stay where applied. When heated by fire, TetraKO becomes even thicker and releases a dense steam, dramatically aiding in fire suppression.
TetraKO is third party certified, using EPA and internationally recognized Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) standards for biodegradability and toxicity.
