Halpert Promoted to as Glendale Fire Marshal

Congratulations to Jeff Halpert on his promotion to Fire Marshal for the Glendale Fire Department, effective June 1, 2010. There was a promotional ceremony for Jeff today, June 1st at 0800 hours, in the Community Room at Fire Station 21.

Jeff has been a part of the Glendale Fire Department team for over 19 years and since 1991 has held the titles of Hazardous Materials Specialist, Fire Protection Engineering Associate, Fire Protection Engineer I, and Engineering Project Specialist. Jeff has worked in the functionalareas of underground storage tanks, annual inspections of high-rise building and public assemblies, new construction inspections, plan review of fire protection systems and architectural plans, water supply testing, and just about everything in between. Jeff has been involved in a variety of projects and initiatives, some of which are the plan review and/or inspections of new high rise buildings – Hilton, Embassy Suites, 655 N. Central; new hospital tower at the Glendale Adventist Medical Center; the Americana project, Glendale Marketplace, Glendale Fashion Center, Company Inspection Program training for all the firefighters; code adoption and the sprinkler retrofit program, just to name a few.

Jeff was an active member for several years in 'Hatzolah', a volunteer emergency medical response team in his neighborhood. Also, he and his family participate in delivering food from a local food bank to the homes of the needy, 'Tomchei Shabbos'. Jeff was born and raised in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C. He earned an AA degree in Engineering from Montgomery College there, and went on to the University of Maryland, College Park, to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering.
