TORRANCE, CA – April 9, 2010 – Pelican Products, the global leader in the design and manufacture of advanced lighting systems and virtually indestructible cases, announced today that Project Engineer Ted Lynds has won the National Institute of Packaging, Handling & Logistics Engineers (NIPHLE)'s Long-Life Package award. The winning entry, a project Pelican Products is currently developing for the Navy, claimed victory in the Shipping and Storage Container For Optical Path Components category.

"We're proud that Ted's project has been recognized by NIPHLE and feel that it truly showcases the high caliber of talent in our Engineering Department," said Lyndon Faulkner, Pelican Products, Inc. President and CEO. "It also reinforces Pelican Products' commitment to providing quality products and services that add value to our customers."

Long-Life Packaging award category products feature a complex design and have undergone specialized engineering and testing. They also need to emphasize shipping and protection during long-term storage and be frequently reusable. Participation in the NIPHLE Annual Design Competition is encouraged for all individuals or teams in government, industry, and academia who feel they have made a valuable contribution in the fields of packaging, handling, or logistics.

The award recognition for Lynds' project was given at a luncheon on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 as part of the NIPHLE Training Conference in San Diego. It coincided with the induction of 50 year veteran Norm Barstow into the NIPHLE Military Packaging Hall of Fame during the same conference event. Barstow, who recently retired from Hardigg Industries (Pelican Products acquired Hardigg Industries in December 2008) was inducted into the Hall of Fame due to his half-century career as a pioneer in the design and manufacture of custom packaging solutions.
