Brandon, S.D., March 31, 2010 – Crimson Fire, Inc. has begun delivering pumpers to the city of Chicago as part of a three-year contract.

The Brandon, S.D.-based manufacturer of custom fire trucks and other rescue vehicles has already delivered nine custom pumpers to Chicago as part of the contract.  The city, which has one more apparatus on order, could purchase as many as 50 units over the life of the contract.  Crimson Fire also recently signed a three-year contract with Chicago to provide more than 30 custom aerials.

Chicago has been a customer of Crimson Fire for more than 18 years.  Since 1992, the city has put more than 131 heavy-duty Crimson pumpers into service.

Equipment Management Co., the Crimson Fire dealership serving Illinois, secured the pumper contract for Chicago and will sell and service the apparatus.  EMC, which also has operations in Arizona, joined the growing family of Crimson Fire dealers in July 2009.

"We welcome this continued opportunity to serve the firefighters and citizens of the Windy City," said Kevin Crump, president of Crimson Fire.  "We value our long-standing relationship with the Chicago Fire Department and appreciate the confidence they have in Crimson Fire.  We are committed to building durable, dependable custom apparatus that meet the needs of each department we serve."

The new pumpers are built on a 167-inch wheelbase and feature:
  •  Spartan Gladiator® cab and chassis
  •  Hale Q-Two 1,500 gpm two-stage pumps
  •  A 500-gallon water tank
  •  Unique stainless steel tubular construction
  •  Federal Signal LED lighting package
