Holden, LA – The Fire Department of New York City has added another ten aerial ladders to its contract with Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc. Ferrara, America’s premier custom fire apparatus manufacturer, announced the initial ten aerial ladders in December of 2009. Coupled with the multi-unit heavy rescue project, Ferrara Fire Apparatus now has contracts with the City of New York totaling more than $24 million.

Ferrara President and CEO Chris Ferrara noted, “The addition of these ten units should be interpreted as a clear signal that FDNY is pleased with the progress we’ve made on the initial order, as well as our willingness and ability to custom engineer the trucks to meet all their needs.”

The vehicles are designed around the Ferrara LP-102, a low-profile rear mount aerial ladder. The new aerial trucks will be built on Ferrara custom chassis, featuring a stainless steel split tilt cab, a four section rear mount aerial ladder and a stainless steel body. Having a narrow width, tight turning radius and low overall height, the trucks will be built to accommodate the congested streets of New York and easily fit in the FDNY’s many historic fire stations. While the FDNY trucks are designed without pump, tank and pre-piped waterway, a municipal edition with those features is available.

Ferrara Fire Apparatus manufacturers a complete line of fire, emergency and rescue vehicles, including their Inferno, Igniter, Ember and Intruder 2 custom chassis, pumpers and tankers, rear and mid-mount aerial ladders and platforms, rescue and incident command vehicles, Inundator industrial foam apparatus, law enforcement vehicles and the Strong Arm fire rescue vehicle. A leading innovator in the industry, Ferrara takes pride in offering such firefighter safety items such as On-Site Tilt Table Testing, Cab and Body ECE-29 Crash Testing, Independent Front Suspension, Complete Airbag Protection, and SmartWheel steering systems.
