Beaverton, Ore. November 4, 2009 -- A local apparel manufacturer announced a new partnership today with an Oregon-based non-profit to help strengthen family ties for first responders.
The locally-based apparel company, Airtime Gear LLC. , announced its partnership today with Responder Life, a non-profit organization out of Sandy, Ore., devoted to improving family ties for police, fire and emergency services professionals.
"Responder Life is an organization that Nine 1 One Gear is humbled to support. They understand the pressures that first-responders face on a daily basis, and they strive to assist these heroic individuals and their families," said Peter Ettro, Airtime Gear CEO.
The family is a natural support system for first responders, and Responder Life crosses inter-service boundaries to help support these families through family workshops, getaways, evening and weekend events to renew the support systems that help fire, police and ems professionals.
According to the Responder Life website, first responders are plagued with high divorce rates and first responders must deal with frequent exposure to dangerous and traumatic events. Over time, the spiritual and psychological effects of this exposure can undermine faith, family, and financial stability through depression, survivor's guilt, compassion fatigue and hyper-vigilance.
"Putting others first and risking your life for them can take its toll, in the meantime, your family is left at home," said Ettro.
Responder life is seeking new donations and partnerships, according to their website. More information about this organization can be found at www.responderlife.org.
