Historical Company Reaches Major Milestone; Celebration Slated for October

This year America’s oldest manufacturer of fire, rescue and EMS apparatus has turned 175 years old. American LaFrance has successfully created safe, durable and innovative emergency vehicles for almost two centuries and continues to be a leader in the fire apparatus industry.

Ladson, SC (June 25, 2007) -- This year America's oldest manufacturer of fire, rescue and EMS apparatus has turned 175 years old. American LaFrance has successfully created safe, durable and innovative emergency vehicles for almost two centuries and continues to be a leader in the fire apparatus industry.

To honor this landmark year, American LaFrance will throw a two day celebration planned for Oct. 19th and 20th in Summerville, South Carolina. To coincide with the 175th anniversary celebration is the company's new headquarters grand opening.

In late 2006, preparations began on the construction of the 440,000 square foot state-of-the-art, custom fire and vocational products manufacturing and assembly plant, and beautiful 57,000 square foot American LaFrance headquarters. The company's new home, site of the anniversary celebration, is located just off of Interstate 26 in Berkeley County. Ahead of schedule, the company plans on making the full transition into their new facility by mid-Summer, just in time to prepare for the October festivities.

With so many American LaFrance dedicated customers, followers and buffs throughout the country, the company's 175th anniversary celebration is promised to be a popular and even historical event. The two day celebration will feature activities for everyone including an antique fire truck muster, swap meet, supplier displays, educational seminars on gold leaf application and antique fire truck maintenance and restoration, children's activities and more. American LaFrance owners are encouraged to bring their own antiques and memorabilia to the event.
