Nesquehoning, PA – KME is pleased to announce the City of Ottawa Fire Department has awarded KME and its sales representative Metz Fire & Rescue, an order for 12 custom pumpers. The award is a multi-year award with options for future apparatus purchases.
The units will be built on KME’s Predator™ Severe Service™ chassis. The Severe Service™ concept is about a well-planned design created to fully accommodate the needs of operators, crews and mechanics and have a rig that’s ready to respond, every time. The cab is designed, manufactured and tested to perform under the most rigorous demands and is recognized as the fire service’s safest cab by meeting and exceeding, to a fire service best, all crash/crush and front/side impact testing standards. Ottawa’s cabs will include both frontal
collision (4Front™) and rollover protection (RollTek™) for all occupants.
The pumping system includes a top mount pump panel with 1500 gpm pump, cold weather package for extreme winter environments, 600/20 gallons of water/foam and a Class A foam system. The body was custom designed to meet the unique needs of Ottawa’s fire department. The body features customized storage for each piece of equipment carried by the department, with everything enclosed to protect equipment from the elements. The preconnects are setup at the rear of the apparatus on one common panel for ease of hookup and replacement. The hoseload is protected by a hinged treadplate cover, with a lowered section for LDH supply hose. The top of the apparatus is accessed from an ergonomic ladder for safe climbing.
