SAN DIEGO, Nov. 26, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- As the mobility of today's workers continues to increase, MIR3, Inc., the innovator of real-time Intelligent Notification (IN(TM)) and response technology, today announced the launch of the MIR3 Intelligent Notification Mobile app.
Intelligent Notification Mobile is a tool designed to improve business continuity, IT service management, operational performance and employee safety by enabling mobile professionals to send, receive, respond to and track emergency and operational alerts from the Intelligent Notification platform using smartphones. This capability is critical when events interrupt normal business processes and an important message needs to be delivered to or from a dispersed workforce quickly and efficiently.
Modern enterprises are experiencing an increase in mobile workforces where employees spend less time in a typical office environment, with three out of five workers claiming they no longer need to be in an office to be productive. According to a survey performed by Forrester Research, 44% of information workers now use smartphones in their work.
This has created a need for software applications that enable dispersed workers to complete important and critical tasks when they are away from their offices. One of those tasks is the ability to send an important message to any number of people when an event threatens to harm employees or interrupt business operations.
The Intelligent Notification Mobile app lets iPhone and Android users use existing templates or create unique messages and deliver them to pre-defined groups or individuals throughout the enterprise, directly from a smartphone. It receives notifications over phone networks or Wi-Fi, so if a business traveler away from the office doesn't have local coverage, he or she will still receive messages. When users respond to an alert, their GPS location is detected and returned with the response, making it easy to see if the person is in danger and needs direction or assistance.
The Intelligent Notification app lets users:
-- Use existing templates or create messages on the fly
-- Send alerts to pre-defined groups or individuals from a smartphone
-- View delivery and response reports as they come in
-- Join a conference call with one touch; if dropped, rejoin with a touch
-- Locate recipients with GPS to direct to safety or to take action
-- Respond to an alert with one touch, without keying in a code or typing
-- Send and receive alerts at no charge, unlike phone or SMS alerts
"It's clear that the mobile workforce will continue to grow and business continuity tools need to be adapted to serve their needs,"
said Frank Mahdavi, chief strategy officer at MIR3. "The MIR3 Intelligent Notification Mobile app offers the enterprise mobile workforce a flexible, reliable and powerful way to communicate and send notifications when away from the office environment, enhancing lines of business communication, protecting resources and even safeguarding the lives of other employees."
