KME Receives Boston Foam Pumpers Order

Nesquehoning, PA – KME is pleased to announce the City of Boston Fire Department has awarded KME and its sales representative Bulldog Fire Apparatus, an order for five custom foam pumpers purchased under the FCAM (Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts) Contract. These units will join the ten KME pumpers and two rescue trucks unit already in service in Boston. In addition, Boston has three 109’ AerialCatTM rear mount ladders currently in production at KME.
The new pumpers include features to specifically handle incidents in the tunnel system that runs throughout the City of Boston. Each rig is equipped with a secondary pump for pump and roll operations which will supply both water and foam to the remote controlled bumper turret. Ground spray nozzles are included beneath the unit to protect against the potential of rolling fuel that could become ignited during operations. A remote controlled deck gun is also included for higher flow on major incidents requiring additional foam attack.
The Boston Severe Service Pumper Design is built on a KME’s Predator TM Severe Service TM LFD chassis with a 405hp engine and dual secondary braking with both an engine compression brake and an EVSR transmission with output retarder for extended brake life and superior breaking ability. A Code-3 NFPA Tricore Warning Light Package and Fire Research LED Spectra work lighting package is also included.
The Waterous pumping system includes a side mount pump panel with a CSU-C20-1250 Single Stage Pump and Waterous Advantus 6 Class “A and/or B” Foam System. The poly tank has a 750-gallon capacity with a 50-gallon integral foam system with external foam pumping and filling capabilities. Discharges include an Akron FireFox Bumper Turret and TFT Hurricane Electric Deck Gun with a 1000 GPM Master Stream Electric Nozzle.
The apparatus also includes a 5-year bumper to bumper warranty.
