City of Seattle Awarded GSN 2012 Homeland Security Award for Most Notable Municipal/County Security Program

Yakima, WA (March 4, 2013) – The City of Seattle’s Common Operating Picture (COP) solution received an award for the Most Notable Municipal/County Security Program at the annual Government Security News Awards ceremonies. Seattle’s entry featured a new Enhanced Common Operating Picture platform that provides situational awareness for five different city departments (the Seattle Police Department, Fire Department, Public Utilities, City Light, and Seattle Department of Transportation) providing a system that allows them to act as a single unit during day-to-day and large scale emergencies.
Seattle teamed up with 4QTRS, LLC to provide an Enhanced Common Operating Picture Solution (eCOP). The eCOP solution allows the City to view and interact with real time and operational information from a variety of sources, including the various CAD, RMS, GIS, and radio systems in use throughout the City on one easy-to-use common operating picture screen. Also included into the eCOP is The Rhodium Incident Management Suite that will allow incident commanders and other incident staff to manage incidents in real time by tracking resource status, pre-plan information, and other critical ICS data while sharing information seamlessly with other system users.
Obtaining a common operational picture is integral when it comes to critical infrastructure protection and emergency response management. By obtaining a single identical display of operational information that's visible across Seattle’s entire enterprise, all participating city departments can achieve dramatically improved situational awareness. A Seattle eCOP facilitates collaborative planning and enables new levels of productivity and efficiency in critical operations.
