LePere Tapped as New Reedy Creek Emergency Services Chief

Richard D. LePere Jr. was appointed fire chief for Reedy Creek Emergency Services, which protects Walt Disney World in Central Florida, in April.

Richard D. LePere Jr. was appointed Fire Chief for Reedy Creek Emergency Services in April. He has an understanding of comprehensive emergency services and came prepared to lead the safety efforts for the millions of guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort.

He became a Florida state certified firefighter in 1980 and progressed through the ranks including firefighter, safety officer, lieutenant, fire inspector, captain and assistant chief before his new position. He has a bachelor’s degree from Warner Southern College and is certified by the State of Florida as an EMT, Fire Officer II, Inspector II and Fire Service Instructor III.

“I like to lead by example.” LePere said. “Leading with integrity is critical to me.”

He said he is accountable for what he does and expects his employees to be accountable for what they do.

“I don't want to forget where I came from,” LePere added. “I’m not above doing anything I’d ask our personnel to do.”
