Honeywell announced today a donation of more than $50,000 in equipment to the City of High River, Alberta, Canada, to aid in the cleanup and rebuilding efforts in areas devastated by last month's heavy rains and continued flooding.

MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 14, 2013 - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today a donation of more than $50,000 in respiratory and protective safety gear to the City of High River, Alberta, Canada, to aid first responders, town workers and volunteers assisting in the cleanup and rebuilding efforts in areas devastated by last month's heavy rains and continued flooding.

Southern Alberta, Canada, has experienced extreme flooding following June's torrential rains that forced the Elbow, Bow, Highwood and South Saskatchewan rivers over their banks. The City of High River, located approximately 65 kilometers south of Calgary and now designated a provincial disaster area, was particularly hard-hit by the flooding and remains under a local state of emergency.

Honeywell Safety Products, the world's leading provider of personal protective gear used by first responders and emergency personnel, has consulted with local Emergency Management Agency representatives and will donate protective footwear, gloves, breathing masks and Uvex protective eyewear, to help those on the front lines of the recovery efforts remain safe.

"We're in a crisis mode dealing the results of the recent flooding that's destroyed the property and lives of the residents of High River," said James Thackray, chief administrative officer for the City of High River. "While we have a long road ahead of us, we're greatly appreciative of the efforts of Honeywell to help protect our first responders who are assisting in getting our residents back into their homes."

Honeywell also announced the Honeywell Humanitarian Relief Fund (HHRF) has been deployed to support employees who have been affected by the flooding. Support initially includes immediate cash assistance for food, clothing, and shelter to employees who have been temporarily displaced. Honeywell will also match employee contributions to HHRF dollar for dollar.

"Honeywell Safety Products employees work hard every day to ensure that first responders return home to their families safely - it's part of our culture of safety that drives what we do every day," said Jack Boss, president of Honeywell Safety Products. "We employ several hundred people in the Calgary area so we feel a sense of responsibility to support our employees and the first responders in one of our hometowns."

Honeywell has donated more than $8.4 million dollars to support disaster relief, first responder, and other non-profit agencies that protect those serving our communities, and 916 employees have been assisted in crises. Through the HHRF, the company and thousands of Honeywell employees have responded with donations and long-term rebuilding efforts for other tragedies in recent years, such as the tsunami in Japan, the Colorado wildfires, the earthquake in China, tornadoes in Oklahoma, and hurricanes Sandy, Ike and Katrina.
