E-ONE Introduces Totally Redesigned Quest Cab

April 16, 2014

After months of in-the-field customer research collecting data from fire departments across the country, E-ONE debuted its redesigned Quest custom cab with more aggressive exterior styling and a vast array of user-focused improvements last week during the 2014 Fire Department Instructors’ Conference, FDIC, in Indianapolis.

“Our goal with this cab redesign was not only to improve upon the feedback received from customers with current Quest cabs, but to also expand on that research and improve the cab even further,” said Joe Hedges, E-ONE Product Manager. “While there are improvements throughout the cab, our top five targets areas were improved ergonomics, improved visibility, increased cab storage, increased option set and additional lighting throughout.”

The redesigned Quest hit all of those marks. Improved ergonomics can be seen and felt with lower and wider cab steps allowing for an easier, smoother egress. While the Quest has always offered the industry’s best visibility with an expansive 3,728 square inch, two-piece windshield, E-ONE took this visibility to the next level by lowering the center console and raising the overhead console for increased viewing area.

The redesigned Quest now offers more storage than ever before. Officer-side kick plates now feature strategically placed recesses to create up to 346 cubic inches of additional legroom. The rear facing crew seats were designed with custom storage areas beneath the seat for both personal and mission critical items and can include USB ports and a 12-volt outlet.

An important voice of the customer finding was the need for increased options, as such E-ONE re-launched the Quest with flexibility in mind. A few of the new options include: severe-duty or ABS interior; power or manual windows, locks and pedals; customizable buttons on the steering wheel; cab-corner or west-coast style mirror placement; and two different front grill designs.

And finally, red ambient lighting throughout the cab was added to improve visibility for the crew without distracting the driver. Front wash lights continually offer a soft red glow on the center dash while two rows of pin lights over the engine cover can be powered on by either the driver or the officer for an additional source of lighting.
