Miami-Dade is upgrading its fleet and ordered 31 pumpers, four ARFFs and a Quick Response vehicle.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, FL is upgrading its apparatus fleet and partnering with Rosenbauer to build 30 pumpers for Operations and one pumper for Miami International Airport.

All 31 pumpers are to be built on the Rosenbauer custom Commander chassis with galvanized frame rails and cross-members. The pumpers will be powered by Cummins ISL 450 HP engines and Allison 3000 EVS transmissions with retarders. They will have Hale QMAX one stage 1,250 GPM pumps and 750-gallon fiberglass water tanks. The bodies will be heavy-duty Rosenbauer EXT 3/16 aluminum with roll-up doors.

They will have the Rosenbauer Green Star Idle Reduction Technology system, which will save hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel annually.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue has also upgraded the ARFF fleet at Miami International Airport with the delivery of four Panthers and a QRV (Quick Response Vehicle). The Panther fleet consists of two 6x6 3000 gallon units with High Reach Extendable Turrets.

They are powered by Detroit Diesel Series 60 750 HP engines with Twin Disc transmissions. The fire pump is a Rosenbauer R600 two-stage 1.850 GPM. The water tank carries 3,000 gallons, while the foam tank has 420 gallons with the Rosenbauer Foamatic RVMA 500 system.

The other two Panthers are 4x4 1,500-gallon units also powered by Detroit Diesel Series 60 engines, with Twin Disc transmissions. They also have a Rosenbauer R600 1,850 gallon pump system. They carry 1,500 gallons of water and 210 gallons of foam with the Rosenbauer Foamatic RVMA 500 system.

The last unit for Miami International Airport is a Rosenbauer Airwolf C2 ARFF vehicle. The unit is built on a Ford F-550 chassis with a Kelderman Air Suspension System which allows the vehicle to lower itself for use in low height parking garages.

It is equipped with a Darley 2-1/2 AGE-39K high pressure/high volume pump system with variable GPM. The water tank has 300 gallons and an integral ARFF 40 gallon foam tank with a Fire Research Around-The-Pump Class B Foam System.

A Fire Combat 500-pound capacity, two-outlet, dry chemical system is also included. The body is 1/8 aluminum with roll-up doors. All these Miami-Dade units were sold by Bob Milnes of Fire Fighting Innovations.
