An Onset firefighter was called to a fire in a Wareham church, the same house of worship were his wedding was schedule hours later.
According to WCVB 5News, Conrad Fernandes got a call Friday night to respond to a 3-alarm mutual aid fire in St. Patrick’s, a 78-year-old Catholic Church.
At virtually the same time, his fiance Daliza called him panicked because they were set to be married in the building just hours later.
The church suffered about a half million dollars in damages in the blaze and would not be able to host the couple’s wedding.
Yesterday morning, Fernandes and his groomsmen called Catholic churches in the area and were able to move the wedding to a nearby church in Dartmouth. It was reportedly a beautiful ceremony that went off without a hitch.
The bride and groom are also members of St. Patrick and catechism teachers, according to the TV station. Future Masses will be held St. Patrick's parish hall.
