The makers of the upcoming film "Silo," which recounts a harrowing grain entrapment rescue, will donate a portion of the proceeds to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

The creators of an upcoming motion picture inspired by true events will be donating a portion of the film's proceeds to assist the families of fallen firefighters.

The movie "Silo" releases on May 7 and recounts a harrowing day in an Iowa farming community when a teenage boy becomes trapped inside a 50-foot grain silo.

According to the film's website, "the town locals must put aside their deeply rooted differences to save him from drowning in the grain they harvest."

The website says the movie was the product of a long, creative collaboration between the filmmakers, rural farmers and fire/rescue personnel in an effort to make the production as realistic as possible.

Oscilloscope Films has also announced that a portion of the film's proceeds will go to The National Fallen Firefighters Association, which sets out to help the families of firefighters who fall in the line of duty and to raise awareness of safety issues that can help prevent these fatalities.

"Silo" stars Jack DiFalco (Daredevil, The OA), Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick), and Jeremy Holm (House of Cards), and is directed by Marshall Burnette.
