Maryland Heights firefighter Chris Moore died Saturday morning at home after suffering a medical emergency following a 48-hour shift.

A 17-year veteran of the Maryland Heights, MO, Fire Protection District died Saturday morning at his home in Eureka, hours after his shift ended.

According to a line-of-duty death notification from the U.S. Fire Administration, Firefighter/Paramedic Chris Moore responded to several fire and EMS calls during a 48-hour shift on Thursday and Friday.

Moore complained of not feeling well in the late morning Friday and was relieved of duty to go home and rest, saying he was going to follow up with his personal physician, but he was found deceased at his home on Saturday morning.

"It is with great sadness that the Maryland Heights Fire Protection District and International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2665 announce the Line of Duty Death of Firefighter Paramedic Chris Moore, who suffered a medical emergency while on duty June 6, 2019," the Maryland Heights Fire Protection District said in a statement. "Arrangements are pending and will be announced on their completion. Please keep the family of Firefighter Paramedic Chris Moore, as well as his fire service family in your thoughts and prayers."

Moore leaves behind a son and a daughter, according to KMOV.
