A double-parked driver became so enraged when an FDNY ladder truck came close to her car that she chased down the firefighters to shout at them, then struck two of them as she sped off Tuesday, law enforcement sources said.
Sources said Victoria Sotomayor, 28, was double-parked in a school zone at Ave. B and E. 6th St. in Alphabet City at about 2:30 p.m. when firefighters with Ladder 11 drove past her on their way to conduct an investigation.
The firefighters stopped on Ave. C,. and Sotomayor allegedly got out of her car and screamed at the truck’s driver, accusing him of nearly hitting her car, the sources said.
She got back into the car and barreled past the ladder truck just as two firefighters, Gregory Tauriello and Assem El Ghaziri, were walking nearby, the sources said. She allegedly hit both firefighters and kept going, rolling up on a curb and onto a sidewalk as she drove off, they said.
Tauriello, who was hit in the elbow and knee, was in stable condition. El Ghaziri declined medical attention, according to the sources.
The ladder truck pursued Sotomayor, blocking her at E. Houston St. by the FDR Drive until police arrived, the sources said.
She was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and issued a desk appearance ticket, cops said Tuesday night. She could not immediately be reached for comment.
