Two Trenton firefighters suffered burns while searching for survivors trapped in the three-alarm fire early Thursday.

Four Trenton firefighters were hurt while battling a three-alarm blaze at a 100-year-old boarding house early Thursday.

It took nearly six hours to extinguish the fire, KYW-TV reports. Of the four firefighters injured, two of them suffered burns while checking for survivors who might have been trapped in the home.

"These houses are extremely old, the wood in there is extremely dry. And some of these houses get chopped up into smaller units to allow for other residents to live in and it makes it extremely hard to get in there and get to the seat of the fire," Deputy Chief Anthony Moran told KYW.
