Detroit Fire Chief Hurt Responding to Blaze

DETROIT -- A Detroit fire chief was rushed to the hospital Thursday when his SUV crashed en route to a blaze on the city's east side. Detroit Fire Department Chief 8 James Houseworth crashed with a silver minivan on Seven Mile Road at Sherwood Road. Other fire officials at the scene said Houseworth was not seriously hurt, but was put in a neck brace and taken to the hospital as a precaution. The driver of the minivan was also taken to the hospital. Her condition was not immediately known.
