An Brookhaven firefighter pulled a woman from her SUV seconds before it was hit by an LIRR train.

An off-duty Brookhaven volunteer firefighter is being credited with saving a woman's life after her SUV ended up on Long Island Rail Road tracks in Bellport following a crash with another vehicle late Tuesday night.

Firefighter Pete DiPinto Sr., who lives near where the accident happened, heard a car crash while he was getting ready for bed and rushed over to help, pulling Janice Esposito from the vehicle seconds before an oncoming train demolished it.

"Last night, the hero arrived in pajamas, not in a fire truck," South Country Ambulance Chief of Dept. Greg Miglino told CBS New York.
