A plane carrying four state Division of Forestry employees crashed shortly after takeoff from Aniak, a village in western Alaska, as it was responding to a wildfire in Soldotna.
 
This year, training for 81 rehired seasonal firefighters in CAL FIRE's Sonoma-Lake-Napa unit includes changes to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
 
An executive order issued by Gov. Jared Polis increases the money available to Colorado fire departments as agencies prepare for wildfire season and continue to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
