Elkhart Brass is the industry's most experienced manufacturer of innovative firefighting and fire protection equipment. Elkhart products can be found in fire departments around the world, building systems and off-shore drilling sites, as well as in military, marine, and industrial firefighting applications.

Well known for its commitment to quality, value, and customer service, Elkhart celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2002. Since its founding, the company has been owned and operated by the same family and is in the fourth generation of management.

Elkhart Brass still operates at its original site in Elkhart, Indiana. In addition to manufacturing and management, the site also houses product research and development, engineering, and product testing. Elkhart manufactures 2,000 products used in virtually every aspect of fire fighting.

The Fire Apparatus Manufacturers' Association (FAMA) has awarded its 2013 Phillip L. Turner Fire Protection Scholarship to University of Maryland student Maria Theodori, holding certificate. Theodori, a senior majoring in fire protection engineering, received a $5,000 scholarship in recognition of her academic achievement and commitment to the fire service. In addition to her academics, Theodori is president of the university's Society of Fire Protection Engineers Student Chapter. Last summer, she interned in Greece with the Forest Research Institute of Athens to research wildfires and how to decrease home vulnerability on the wildland/urban interface. The award is given annually by FAMA and has been sponsored since 2009 by FAMA member Akron Brass Co. With Theodori are Akron Brass representatives Tim Van Fleet, left, and Dave Durstine, accompanied by Tammy Laridaen of the FAMA Education Committee.
