The increasing installation of run-flat tires will challenge rescue personnel not familiar with the difference between run-flats and a conventional tire. When a vehicle has run-flat tires (shown here), it is not practical to expect responders at an incident scene to know that. Although small markings may be present along the sidewall of the tire, no responder is expected to look in that detail at the information on the tire of a crash-damaged vehicle. We just need to know how to get the vehicle stabilized as quickly and efficiently as possible.
