Indiana Firefighter Suffers Fatal Heart Attack

A Lynn volunteer firefighter died on the morning of Sept. 25 after responding to a mutual aid call in Ohio the previous day, according to the Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office.

Firefighter Ronald W. Stephan, 61, suffered an apparent fatal heart attack at approximately 10 a.m.

Crews from Lynn responded to the call for assistance at a large brush fire close to 40 miles away in the neighboring state.

Stephan served with the department for close to 20 years and is survived by his wife, two children, father, sister and two granddaughters.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
