A Pennsylvania fire police officer died in the line of duty while directing traffic at a fundraiser over the weekend, according to the Bart Township Fire Company.

A Pennsylvania fire police officer died in the line of duty while directing traffic at a fundraiser over the weekend, according to the Bart Township Fire Company.

Special Division Ladies Auxiliary member John G. Lawrence, 52, was assisting with a traffic control detail in front of the company's station during its annual mud sale.

FirefighterCloseCalls.com is reporting that Lawrence experienced a medical emergency and collapsed. A nearby CPR instructor began CPD and the fire company's members responded with an AED and shocked their comrade, which brought him back.

According to the site, Lawrence was talking to them and was transported by ambulance to Lancaster General Hospital but later succumbed and was pronounced dead.

Funeral Arrangements

Visitation for Fire Police Officer Lawrence will be held Tuesday, March 10 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 11 from 10 a.m. to the time of service at Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth Street, Christiana, Penn.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 11 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
